Delaware mandates that physicians complete 40 CME credits per two-year licensure cycle, including specific coursework in controlled substances, child abuse assessment, and dementia care. Always refer to the Delaware State Medical Board for the latest requirements.

In addition to general CME credits, Delaware requires training in:

  • Controlled Substance Prescribing – 2 credit hours every two years.
  • Child Abuse Assessment and Reporting – 1 credit hour.
  • Delaware Law on Controlled Substances – 1 credit hour within the first year of registration.
  • Child Sexual and Physical Abuse, Exploitation, and Domestic Violence – 1 credit hour every two years.

Physicians must renew their CME credits every two years, completing 40 credits per licensure cycle, including any mandated specialty courses.


 

Physicians with an active Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) must complete 2 hours of CME in areas such as controlled substance prescribing, chronic pain treatment, or other related topics every two years.


 

To renew their medical license, physicians must complete 1 hour of CME training on recognizing child sexual and physical abuse, exploitation, and domestic violence, along with training on their reporting obligations under the Medical Practice Act.

Healthcare professionals working in Adult or Gerontology must complete at least 1 hour per reporting period on diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias.
