  • Profession: Medical Doctor (MD) and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • CME Credits Required: 40

General CME Requirements for Delaware licensed Physicians

“Prior to renewal of registrations to practice medicine in this State a physician must be prepared to supply the Board with proof that he has completed forty (40) hours per registration period of continuing medical education in Category I courses approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) or equivalent courses approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) since the time of the physician's last renewal of his registration.”

Controlled Substance Prescribing Requirement

“All active Controlled Substance Registrations must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date. During renewal, you are asked to attest to completing the two hours of continuing education (CE) in the areas of controlled substance prescribing practices, treatment of chronic pain, or other topics related to prescribing controlled substances.”

Child Abuse and Assessment Requirement

“To renew your license, you are required to attest that you have completed mandatory training required by Delaware law on

  • how to recognize child sexual and physical abuse, exploitation and domestic violence, and
  • your reporting obligations under the Medical Practice Act “
