General CME Requirement for Michigan-Licensed Physicians

“150 hours of continuing medical education in courses or programs approved by the board.”

For MDs-  “a minimum of 75 hours of the required 150 hours earned in courses or programs designated as Category 1 programs.  “

For DOs- “a minimum of 60 hours of the required 150 hours must be earned through Category 1 programs.”

Pain Management CME Requirments

“A minimum of 3 hours of continuing education earned in the area of pain and symptom management. “

Controlled Substance Prescribing CME Requirement

“At least 1 of the 3 hours must include controlled substance prescribing. “

Medical Ethics CME Requirement

“ A minimum of 1 hour of continuing education earned in the area of medical ethics. “

Human Trafficking CME Requirement

“Beginning December 6, 2021, completion of a one-time training to identify victims of human trafficking is required for individuals seeking licensure that meets the standards of Administrative Rule 338.2413. “

Implicit Bias CME Requirement

“Beginning June 1, 2022, completion of 2 hours of implicit bias training within the 5 years immediately preceding issuance of the license or registration is required. “
