  • 3.5 hours in controlled substance prescribing, and
  • 0.5 hours in Utah Suicide Prevention Training, both every two years.

DOs must complete 40 CME credits every two years, with at least 34 hours in Category 1 CME. Controlled substance prescribers must also complete 3.5 hours in opioid and controlled substance education and 0.5 hours in suicide prevention training.


 

 Topics include:

  • 34 hours in Category 1 CME (AOA or AMA-approved)
  • 3.5 hours in controlled substance prescribing (if licensed to prescribe)

0.5 hours in Utah Suicide Prevention Training
The remaining 6 hours can be earned from additional accredited programs.
 

 DOs must complete 40 CME credits every two years, including the required Category 1, prescribing-related, and suicide prevention topics. This aligns with Utah’s biennial license renewal schedule.
